The Athens Clark County Police Department is seeking help from the community to identify the victim involved in a fatal traffic accident at the intersection of US Highway 29 and Highway 17.

The crash happened Sunday night, when the driver of a northbound 2017 Nissan Versa struck a pedestrian crossing Highway 29. The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The victim’s last known location was at a nearby restaurant, where he was seen wearing a black hoodie and a t-shirt with a neon dinosaur logo.

The ACCPD is asking for anyone with information regarding the accident to contact Officer Lauren Barnard at lauren.barnard@accgov.com or call 762-400-7222.

The driver of the Nissan, a 33-year old man from Hull, GA, was arrested and charged with DUI and Homicide by Vehicle in the 1st Degree. He will remain in custody.

This is the 7th fatal crash of 2025 in Athens-Clarke County.
