The Oconee County Board of Education appointed Nicole Elkins as the Executive Director of Special Education and Kristin Harrison as the Director of Secondary Education during their work session on Monday, April 13th.
Elkins worked as an Early Childhood Intervention Specialist with Catoosa County schools and as an adjunct professor at the University of West Georgia. She held roles that coordinated services for students with disabilities, and she also taught special education at South Paulding and Social Circle middle schools.
Harrison brings more than 20 years of experience in education to her new position. She has served as the principal at Malcom Bridge Middle since 2023. She also taught science and Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education classes at Oconee County High School.
Dr. Melissa Butler, the Superintendent of Oconee County, said that both Elkins and Harrison are leaders who have demonstrated their commitment to their work and dedication to supporting students and staff members.
