Over 3,000 voters in Athens-Clarke County have cast ballots so far in the General Primary and Nonpartisan election, according to the county’s Elections Department.
Around 750 absentee ballots have been issued, and around 300 have already been returned.
In-person early voting in the election will continue until May 15th, with election day on May 19th. At the local level, the election will decide Athens-Clarke County’s next mayor, as well as a slate of commissioners and Clarke County School District Board of Education members.
The Athens-Clarke County Elections Department has announced that it will begin processing absentee ballots on May 12th, and will begin counting absentee ballots and advance votes on election day.
