Athens-Clarke County residents will have to wait a few more weeks to find out who will become the city’s next Mayor. According to unofficial results from the Georgia Secretary of State’s Election Data Hub, Board of Education member Tim Denson and ACC Commissioner Dexter Fisher are heading to a runoff. Fisher said he was ready to continue in the race.

“Of course, you know we got four more weeks, and we’ll hit the ground running tomorrow morning,” Fisher said. “I’ve done a runoff my last election, so I know what that takes, I know what that involves.”

Fisher also said he was proud of how he ran his campaign.

"I thought we ran a really good campaign," according to Fisher, “We knocked on a lot of doors, we had a bunch of meet and greets, we did social media. I mean we, we worked hard, I’m proud of our team, proud of everything that we did. I think we got our messaging out.”
