Athens Covid Cases Up from Last Week

The University of Georgia reported 53 new covid-19 cases today, an increase from the 33 cases recorded last week.

According to the Dawgcheck reporting system, 47 of the cases were of students, five were staff members, and one was a faculty member. UGA surveillance testing sites administered tests to 846 individuals in the past week, a record low since the surveillance testing program started last fall. Of the 846, 1.42% tested positive, an uptick compared to the past six weeks which had positivity rates consistently below 1%. 2267 individuals were fully vaccinated by the University Health Center as of April 2nd.

Athens Clarke County recorded 73 new cases in the past week according to the Athens Clarke County Unified Government website.
