Democratic gubernatorial candidate Keisha Lance Bottoms has made history as the first woman and first Black woman to be elected governor of Georgia. She is also the first Black female in U.S. history to be elected governor.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger says election operations are running smoothly statewide as voters head to the polls on Election Day.

About 100 Keisha Lance Bottoms supporters waited at College Square in downtown Athens Monday afternoon to hear from the gubernatorial democrat candidate on the eve of Election Day.

Clarke County voters are among those heading to the polls this Election Day.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger visited Athens on Tuesday.

The primary for the Georgia Public Service Commission’s upcoming major election will take place on June 17. If necessary, there will be a primary runoff on July 15.

Like the state overall, early voting in Athens has seen record breaking numbers.
