Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger says election operations are running smoothly statewide as voters head to the polls on Election Day.

Raffensperger reported strong turnout, with approximately 1.2 million voters projected based on early morning activity. He said participation appeared to be ahead of the 2022 gubernatorial election at the same point.

The state has 2,648 precincts and 2,119 voting locations. Officials reported one precinct opening 10 minutes late in Mitchell County. In Fulton County, approximately 1,000 advance-voting ballots will be rescanned as a precaution following equipment screen errors.

Raffensperger said the issue would not delay election results.

He encouraged Georgians who have not voted to visit their assigned polling locations with an accepted photo ID. Polls close at 7 p.m., but voters in line at closing time will still be allowed to cast ballots.
