The University of Georgia School of Medicine is set to open in the Fall 2026 semester. Vaishali Schuchert has been named the associate dean for student affairs for the upcoming academic year. Schuchert will begin her full-time position starting on June 1st.

As the associate dean for student affairs, Schuchert's responsibilities include comprehensive oversight, coordination and administration of student affairs functions, and enhancing the overall educational experience for students in the School of Medicine.

Before being named the associate dean for student affairs, Schuchert served as the director of medical student education for the Department of Surgery and as an associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh.

“Our job in the Office of Student Affairs is to identify how to best support each individual student,” Schuchert said. “We want to empower our students to seek support when needed and proactively develop habits and behaviors that will help them succeed in medical school and beyond.”
