New wildfires are popping up daily but Governor Kemp is hopeful that they will be contained.

Wildfires continue to plague Georgia despite the small respite to the ongoing drought provided by the recent rain.

The state of emergency is still ongoing and the Georgia Forestry Commission continues to urge caution, advising Georgians to stay clear of active fire areas, to keep drones grounded and airspace clear. Georgians are also being advised to be prepared for smoke impacts, especially along roadways.

As of April 29th, 55,000 acres have burned between Brantley and Clinch county alone. Governor Brian Kemp posted to social media, saying that first responders are making progress with fire containment and asks that they be kept in prayer.
