It’s the final week of advanced voting for the May 19 General Primary and Nonpartisan Election and over 4,600 voters have cast ballots in Athens-Clarke County, according to the county’s election department.
Around 800 absentee ballots have been issued with over 300 returned and ready for counting.
In-person early voting in the election will continue until May 15th, with election day on May 19th. The election will determine party nominees for key races ahead of November’s election, including Athens-Clarke County’s next mayor, as well as a slate of commissioners and Clarke County School District Board of Education members.
The Athens-Clarke County Elections Department has announced that it will begin processing absentee ballots on May 12th, and will begin counting absentee ballots and advance votes on election day.
